But Haruhi Fujioka is a commoner, only admitted into the academy on the grounds of a scholarship.
Raised by a single father after the death of her mother, Haruhi's become indifferent to just about everything, including the way she dresses, being mistaken as a boy. One faithful day, Haruhi wanders into Ouran's Host Club and accidentally breaks an 8 million yen vase. Not being rich, Haruhi cannot afford to pay the Club back for their vase. That is when the leader of the Host Club, Tamaki, declares, "If you become a host and can get 100 customers to request your service, we will completely forget about your 8 million yen debt." And thus, becoming the 7th member of the Host Club, Haruhi pretends to be a boy and entertains the female students to pay back her debt.
